Muscat | 19 February 2024 : Oman Post, the national postal operator, hosted Masahiko Metoki, Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). This high-profile visit, which came in parallel to the first Arab Postal Leaders Forum held in Muscat, highlighted Oman Post’s pivotal role in the international postal community and its commitment to global postal service standards.

This high-profile visit, which came in parallel to the first Arab Postal Leaders Forum held in Muscat, highlighted Oman Post’s pivotal role in the international postal community and its commitment to global postal service standards.
Metoki’s visit included a tour of the state-of-the-art operations and fulfillment center of Oman Post & Asyad Express, and was attended by Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan Alhosni, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Post & Asyad Express, and the management team.
“Oman Post has consistently played a vital role in enhancing postal services and the logistics ecosystem,” said Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan Alhosni. “This was the perfect occasion for us to showcase our achievements in the postal service, particularly in light of Oman’s digital transformation and global connectivity initiatives as part of Oman Vision 2040. We remain committed to driving excellence in mail operations, trackability, e-commerce facilitation, and customer service, as well as upholding the standards advocated by the UPU.” He added.
Oman Post places significance on its partnership with the Universal Postal Union by reaffirming its commitment to meeting international postal service standards and facilitating seamless international mail exchanges. By adhering to the Universal Service Obligation, Oman Post makes postal services available to the public with the required quality at a reasonable price. Additionally, Oman Post’s capabilities and readiness to provide International Financial Services (IFS) showcase its role to become a facilitator of essential financial services that transcend geopolitical barriers. This will enable customers at post offices to benefit from financial services, including international money transfers to any country within the UPU network.
Oman Post, part of Asyad Group, has significantly enhanced its postal services to meet international standards, a commitment that has been recognized through prestigious awards. Notably, it was ranked the first in Express Mail Service (EMS) globally and the third in customer experience globally. Additionally, Oman Post was lauded with the Excellence Award in the Postal Development Index and received the International Addressing Standard Certificate, underscoring its dedication to operational excellence and service quality.
